Good news as the bus e-ticketing card will now cost $2 until the end of March so get the cards to avoid any hassle.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has announced this after discussions with Vodafone and the Land Transport Authority.
However he has said that the card will cost $10 from April.
Sayed-Khaiyum also said that students, the elderly and the disabled who have their bus fares subsidized will not pay the $2 for the card.
Students who do not fall under the subsidized scheme should also purchase their bus e-ticketing cards by the end of March.
The minimum recharge for the card will be $5 however you can top up any amount to your bus card through the Vodafone Mpaisa account in your phone.
Meanwhile the government will give a $1 subsidy for each card sold by Vodafone.
Sayed-Khaiyum said Vodafone is carrying a big subsidy as the cost of the card is $17.25.
Vodafone Fiji's Managing Director, Aslam Khan said Vodafone is happy to partner with the Government and the subsidy runs into $8 million.
For those that have already purchased the card at $10, Sayed-Khaiyum said they can either get the $8 refund or convert it into bus fare credit.
If you lose your card between now and end of March, you have to pay $2 to get another card but it will be $10 from April.
