The effect of the dry weather in the Western division continues to affect the farmers who depend mostly on food from their agricultural farms including sugarcane farms.

Headman of Vitawa village in Rakiraki, Aseri Sakidela said the experience of the current dry spell this year has never been felt in the past years.

Sakidela said Vitawa village has a population of 418 people and most of them depend on water from the well and boreholes which has dried up.

Sakidela some of the families have piped water which is running well.
