Dry Weather Takes Its Toll on Water Supply
The media this afternoon was given a tour of the head works three which supplies raw water to the pumping stations in the Central division which at the moment is dried up with very little water which is not sufficient to be pumped into the system.
According to Divisional Water Engineer Central Eastern, Sereicokocoko Yanuyanurua, for residents to be able to receive normal water supply a total of 60 megalitres of water is needed in the dams however, at the moment they are receiving only 44 megalitres. Yanuyanurua adds that with the current water level they have to ration the water supply to these areas from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, residents living in the high areas of Samabula, Namadi Heights, Lami, and Delanavesi right up to Veisari, will be getting low water pressure in their taps and the water supply department has revealed that four water trucks will be delivering to these areas.
