A man who was convicted of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drug and trying to bribe a police officer was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment by the Suva High court yesterday.

Nausad Ali was found guilty of carrying 1.1 grams of Marijuana on the 24th of March last year. He was also charged with official corrpution after he offered $40 to a police officer for him to be discharged.

Judge Justice Paul Madigan sentenced him to 9 months imprisonment saying that drug problems are a major concern, and that Ali should have been thinking of his family rather than indulging himself in recreation involving drugs.
