Serious concerns have been raised by Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni today, following confirmation that the two tourists who allegedly entered the country with 2 kilograms of cocaine, came through our international airport.
Commodore Teleni said urgent steps need to be taken now, to ensure that authorities have proper facilities, to detect the hard drugs coming into the country, and the testing equipment, to determine that they are illegal substances.
He said it is a major concern following the report from his team of officers that the Mexican woman and Columbian man came by air.
Commodore Teleni also said that they will now assess the equipment needed by the Force to combat the transit of hard drugs.
Meanwhile, Nadi police are still questioning the two tourists.
