Drug and substance abuse will be one of the main topics of discussion at the FCOSS Youth Summit next week.

The event organised by the Fiji Council of Social Services along with the Police Drug Unit and the Education Ministry will focus on the use of drugs and its detrimental effects on schoolwork.

FCOSS Development officer, Tevita Toka-lauvere says this is one of the main topics as they have carried out a year of community work which reveals that drug abuse is one of the main troubles facing young children.

Meanwhile, the Youth Summit will also see the development of a Youth Community directory that will list all the youth, church and non government organisations and the type of help they give.

The Summit will be held from the 7th until the 10th of next month in Nadave, Nausori and 50 participants from NGOs and Government Departments dealing with youth issues will be taking part.
