Police are looking for a 32-year-old man of Wailoku who is believed to have drowned in Wailoku River yesterday.

Assistant Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that the man was trying to cross the river when he was swept by strong currents.

According to Sokomuri the water level in the river was high as it was raining in the mountains.

His body is yet to be recovered. Police are once again urging the members of the public to refrain from crossing flooded rivers and streams.

The drowning toll is now 13 compared to 9 during the same period last year.
