An 18 year old student of Sigatoka drowned while swimming with her family at Yalava in Sigatoka yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was swimming with her parents, two sisters and two brothers when she drowned.
The deceased was trying to swim across the Sigatoka River from Yalava to Nasau side of the Sigatoka Valley when she was caught with the strong current.
He body was found floating few meters away from where she drowned. Post mortem has been arranged for Monday.
The drowning toll is now 33 compared to 11 for the same period last year.
