The National Disaster Management Office states that the dry weather pattern in Fiji has not reached levels to warrant a declaration of a state of disaster.
Acting director Pajiliai Dobui said the situation is not as worse as some people think it is.
He said water continues to be carted to affected areas of the Western Division as well as other areas in Southern Lau and Ono i Lau over the past three weeks.
He said it is quite expensive in terms of the cartage of water.
He said if the dry spell continues to worsen than DISMAC will resort to other measures depending on how serious the situation is on the ground.
Dobui hopes that it will rain soon and there will be no need to make the declaration.
