Adi Cakobau School student Akesa Drotini, who was known as the Pacific queen during the 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa for winning the gold medal while running barefoot, will miss this year's Mini Pacific Games in the Cook Islands.

Drotini has been named in the reserves list by Athletics Fiji coach Albert Miller because of her poor performance this season.

Sereima Liku and Salote Nauila, who beat Drotini in the Coca Cola Games this year, have made the final 10 member women’s team.

Also another surprise inclusion in the women’s team is Kavita Maharaj, daughter of FASANOC vice-president Atma Maharaj.

Meanwhile, Suva Grammar School's Mataiasi Savou, who won the gold in the boy’s 100 metres final at the Cola Cola Games and his team-mate Lepani Naivalu, have also missed out on selection.

Both were named in the reserves.

Athletics Fiji team manager Jane Ratu said only the best were selected in the men’s and women’s division.

The 24 men and 10 women selected will continue their training this weekend at the TFL National Stadium in preparation for the Mini Pacific Games that will be held in the Cook Islands in September.
