Gold Prospect and Pacific Games Record holder in the 1500 metres Akesa Drotini has crashed out of the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune India this afternoon.
Chef De Mission Chris Yee confirms the athletes have just finished their heats and says that its rather sad that Drotini did not make it through to the Semifinals.
With 1 gold in the bag from weight-lifting and currently lying second in the overall medal tally in the Pune Commonwealth Youth Games, Team Fiji is eyeing to continue with their the impressive performance tonight.
Weight-lifter Manueli Tulo won gold in the 56kg category with a total lift of 219 kg has set the pace for the rest of the team members taking part.
The 18 year old win has also placed Fiji in second place behind host India in the medal tally count.
Fiji has 1 gold in 2nd spot while India leads with 3 gold and 1 silver.
