The Fiji Police Force will now take tough action on those Public Service Vehicle drivers who are caught neglecting road rules and causing accidents.
Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra has issued a stern warning to those drivers who continue to become a threat to public safety.
The comments come as two deaths occurred on our roads in the last few days.
According to Mishra, last night's bus accident in Edinburgh drive was a result of drivers' negligence.
Meanwhile, LTA Chief Executive, Etuate Koroi said LTA should not be blamed for the bus accident.
Koroi adds LTA conducts proper checks on all buses and it’s up to the bus companies to maintain good standard of their buses.
Meanwhile a 35 year old woman who is four months pregnant is fighting for her life at the CWM hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the bus accident at Edinburgh Drive last night.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Suliano Tevita confirms the woman is under observation and her situation has not improved from last night.
Another man who was a passenger in the City Line Transport bus has been admitted with serious head injuries. He is expected to undergo a surgery later today.
Meanwhile, a school teacher in his early 40's who was a passenger in the Dee Cees bus died a short while after the tragic accident.
Police say the Dee Cees bus was heading towards Suva when it collided with the City Line Transport Bus, travelling in the opposite direction and which had veered onto the Dee Cees bus lane. One side of the Dee Cees bus got ripped away in the process.
