Divisional Traffic Officer Western has raised concern that despite raising awareness on road safety, drivers are still not following the rules.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Richard Raju said they arrested more than 280 drivers during their weekend operations.

These include drink and driving, speeding, illegal operations, excess passengers and defects in vehicles.

ASP Raju added that 23 drivers were arrested for drunk driving and they have been charged, bailed and are expected to appear in court next month.

He has urged drivers not to be so negligent.
