Drivers Advised To Be Cautious
In a statement released, the Transport Ministry has issued a warning to all drivers using the following roads.
These roads are closed to all traffic; in Naqali - Sawani, Serea, Monasavu, Vunidawa Road; in Korovou - the Kings Road and Dawasamu Road; in Rewa - Waila Feeder Road, Raralevu Road, Waituri, Korociriciri Road and Cautata is flooded and drivers are advised to take extra precaution.
Tonga Road is also closed to all traffic.
In Levuka, drivers are asked to take precaution as the gravel washout has affected road conditions, these places are from Natokalau to Buretu, Bia, Aravudi, Tavia, Rukuruku.
Still in Levuka, Buresala and Nasuku Renewal Centre are opened but with the use of only a single lane.
In Toki, Wainaloka, Draiba, Waitovu drivers are asked to take care.
In Kadavu, Nabukelevu-I-Ra Coastal Road is open but with the use of a single lane due to minor landslides on various sections of the road and there is a complete washout of the road between Qalira and Nabukelevu village.
Also in Tavuki, Namara, Naluvea, Biana Coastal drivers are asked to take care. Drivers also have to take care when using the road to the jetty.
Some roads still remain closed in eastern division as flood waters are slowly receding in these areas. Police confirm the Kings Road is now open to all traffic but has warned drivers to take precaution.
In Nausori, roads that had been closed yesterday due to flooding are now open to all traffic.
The Queens Road remains open for all traffic.
