A van driver will appear in the Nasinu Magistrates court this morning charged in relation to the death of an 11 year old student Melvin Ronald Singh in Tacirua on Tuesday.

He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.

The driver who fled the scene after the accident was arrested at Victoria Parade on Tuesday night.

Singh, who was a class six student, was crossing the road to go to a shop when he was hit by the vehicle.

The post mortem report showed that he died of a fractured skull.

Meanwhile, in light of this accident, Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said people living around the high densely have been urged to supervise their children.

Mishra said parents should keep an eye on their children especially those who live near to the road side.
