Driver Pleads Not Guilty
Ashnil Kumar of Toge, Ba, charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving appeared before Magistrate Kiniviliame Keteca in court where his charges were read to him.
It is alleged that Kumar tried to overtake a car at a bend in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka, when he collided head-on with the car in which Ram Reddy and Sashi Kant were travelling in. The two died instantly.
He has been granted bail on strict bail conditions with an assurity of $1000.
He is expected to appear in court on the 22nd of July.
Meanwhile, Navua police are expected to question the driver whose car collided head-on with another car at Pacific Harbour yesterday morning causing the death of a 29 year old woman.
Police are expected to question him once he has been released from the hospital.
The deceased was driving to work with her husband when the accident took place. The woman died instantly while her husband escaped injuries.
