Rice farmers in Dreketi are calling on the Interim Government to assist them in providing equipment to take out harvested rice crops from the field.

Rice Farmers Spokesperson Karam Chand said heavy rain for the past two weeks has made it difficult for the farmers to harvest and deliver rice crops to Rewa Rice. He said harvested crops are still lying in the fields and have started rotting.

According to Chand the Machine used to pull the crop out of the field is also not in working condition and is calling the Interim government to provide the farmers with equipment before their hard work goes down the drain.

Meanwhile, the Agriculture Minister, Jainend Kumar who jetted into the country last night from Rome said he will ask the Northern Agricultural Division to look into the matter immediately to ease the problems faced by the farmers.
