The Ministry of Agriculture will ensure that the work in the dredging of the Rewa River is completed before the next cyclone season in November.
Permanent Secretary Agriculture, Colonel Mason Smith said work should start next month so they have four solid months to at least see that most of the work is done.
Colonel Smith said the Chinese Contractor, the China Railway Company Limited is already in the country with their big dredging equipment.
Meanwhile the Australian dredging company "Hall Company" has been awarded the contract to dredge the Nadi River.
