National Federation Party President Tupou Draunidalo has not revealed whether she will apologise to the Minister for Education and the people of Fiji.
Draunidalo was suspended for the remainder of the term of parliament last Friday after she used offensive words in parliament when Education Minister, Doctor Mahendra Reddy was speaking in the house.
When contacted this afternoon, Draunidalo only stated that she has to consult some people about it.
The Privileges Committee recommended that Draunidalo must formally apologise in parliament while undergoing formal censure.
She must also apologise to the Minister for Education and the people of Fiji before leaving parliament.
The recommendation stated that the apology must reflect the severity of the breach and the fact it has had far‑reaching effects and went viral on social media here and abroad.
It further said that Draunidalo’s apology format should also recognise that the Minister for Education did not in fact utter the words “dumb natives”.
The committee said during the period of suspension, Draunidalo is not allowed to enter the parliamentary precincts including the Opposition Office.
