In Savusavu, the Tui Wailevu Ratu Kinijoji Maivalili said that the main area they need assistance from the government is in the drainage area.
Maivalili said they want to get into Coconut and rice planting however not much can be done due to the drainage problems.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Agricultural Officer Northern, Ropate Ligairi said that the Ministry and the National Centre for Small and Micro Enterprisse Development had run separate trainings on agriculture programs in the Tikina of Wailevu.
He said they have two officers serving there and they have establish networks with Tikina reps to identify projects from within their Tikina for the Savusavu agricultural officers to follow.
Ligairi said that farmers must understand that these are demand driven projects and if they want they must come forward to register their interest with the agriculture officers.
