The Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Doctor Mohammed Yunus has today stressed that he is no longer a member of the SDL management board.
Doctor Yunus said he has not been contacted by the SDL for some time and he knows he is no longer part of the SDL.
Under the constitution, a person must not be appointed as a member of an independent service commission if he or she is, or has at any time during the immediately preceding 3 years been a national office bearer in a political party that promotes, or has during that 3 years promoted, the election of the House of Representatives of a candidate endorsed by the party.
However Doctor Yunus said he never held an official position in SDL. He said he was only a member of the SDL's Indian Wing.
Meanwhile, SDL National Director Peceli Kinivuwai said Doctor Yunus is still a member of SDL.
