The Interim Government has today made two major announcements in the appointment of a new Interim Health Minister and a new Public Service Commission.

Dr Neil Sharma has been appointed the new Interim Health Minister, with Dr Jiko Luveni, who had also taken responsibility for the ministry, now concentrating on the Ministries of Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation.

Sharma was the former President of the Fiji College of General Practitioners and a former senior lecturer at Fiji School of Medicine.

Information Ministry Deputy Secretary, Major Neumi Leweni said the new Interim Minister will be sworn in next week.

Also, Ratu Josefa Serulagilagi is now the new PSC Chairman replacing Rishi Ram who was farewelled last week.

Serulagilagi is currently Chairman of the Rewa Dairy Corporation and the former permanent secretary in the then Regional Development Ministry and was also the Chairman of the Tailevu Provincial Council.
