Former Labour Party parliamentarian and one of the founders of University of Fiji, Doctor Ganesh Chand has been appointed the new Director for Fiji Institute of Technology.
Interim Education Minister, Netani Sukanaivalu confirms that the FIT council interviewed a total of 15 applicants and recommended Doctor Chand's name to him for endorsement.
Sukanaivalu says he met with Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama earlier today and he is also happy with the appointment.
When contacted in the last hour, Dr. Chand said he will make a statement after he is formally informed of his appointment.
