Team Fiji's medal prospect in the Pacific Games athletics competition, Iowane Dovumatua finished in 8th place in the World Athletics Championship in Osaka, Japan.

Dovumatua finished his race in a time of 11.09 seconds and will now head back to Samoa where he will compete in the 100 metres event starting next week.

Meanwhile, America's Tyson Gay won the men's 100 metres final after beating world record holder Asafa Powell who finished in third place with Derrick Aitkins coming second.
