If there is a tsunami warning, do not get into the car and stay in high rise buildings.

That is the message from Dr Gerard Fryer from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Weather Service based in Hawaii during the US Embassy organized Disaster Management Exercise Worshop at the Novotel hotel in Lami.

Dr Fryer said majority of the tsunami deaths occur when people rush in their cars and later get congested on the road.

He said these people are trapped when the tsunami strikes.
