The Fiji Electricity Authority is calling on people to refrain from planting trees where there is a possibility of it touching FEA lines.

The Chief Executive Officer Sunil De Silva said FEA spends more than $2 million yearly on cutting trees or trimming branches around the country and has already spent nearly $6 million in the past three years.

He said it’s not an easy task as FEA has to also hire contractors to trim trees. He said the Vegetation Management Program will continue for the next two to three years and they are calling on the public to assist FEA in their program.
