The Security Forces in the country should learn not to blame the media for bringing to light their weaknesses and shortcomings.
Speaking to the participants in the Fiji Police Media Workshop in Nasova where Prisons and Military Officers were also present the Chairperson of the Fiji Human Rights Commission (FHRC) Dr Shaista Shameem said while mistakes can be made in the delivery of law and order the most important thing is to ensure that these mistakes are not repeated.
Shameem also challenged the security forces to understand that the public is now hungrier for information than ever before.
Added to that the new technology that is available like internet where anyone can communicate with any information is a challenge they will have to face.
The 3 day workshop continues at the Nasova Police Academy.
