The Fiji Human Rights Commission (FHRC) said ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase should not attack the messenger.

According to Doctor Shaista Shameem, the commission is only highlighting what is contained in the constitution which can disqualify a political party or candidate.

She stressed that Qarase should really take time out to read the constitution to understand what is contained in it.

She said the CERD report which recommended that Fiji implement legislations against racist organizations is not the recommendation from the FHRC, and it’s the views of the CERD committee.

Meanwhile, Fiji Labour Party (FLP) spokesperson Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi said the FLP will comment later as there are a number of allegations leveled against the party by Qarase.
