Domo Ni Karmen set to open
That was the sound of things to come when Fiji's first ever Pacific Opera Domo Ni Karmen opens to the public this Friday and Saturday.
Domo ni Karmen is the Pacific adaptation of the original opera Carmen and focuses on the rights of women in the Pacific.
Musical Director Igelese Ete said that this project showcases the raw talent that is available in Fiji adding that this is a new style of pacific music which they're developing.
The Domo Ni Karmen production which costs $250,000 is directed by Ete, Thomas and produced by Isabelle Meslet Dina for the French embassy with Natasha Underwood playing the lead role as Karmen.
