The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre said they would only interact with an elected government on bringing about changes for the betterment of the women in the country.
FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali's comments came after a 55-year-old taxi driver yesterday got away with only a $150 fine for assaulting his defacto wife.
Ali said the domestic violence report had been drafted and they would wait for an elected government.
Ali added that they had raised their concern about the way the courts treat women who are assaulted by their husbands or their partners.
She said this is criminal assault, which is usually treated as a minor issue.
