Close to 70 doctors who are members of the General Practitioners Association will be meeting this evening at the Fiji School of Medicine to discuss the recent increase in viral infections and the use of antibiotics prescription.
Meeting organizer Doctor Rajesh Maharaj said in the past it has been noted that antibiotics is usually prescribed to counter any viral infection and people tend to overuse the drug without proper prescription.
However, Maharaj added if people are not careful, overuse can be fatal.
The meet which will be held at the Pasifika Campus tonight will also be held to farewell Head Of School Professor Robert Moose who has also been consultant Physician for the past seven years in the country with the school and will also be giving his final speech on lifestyle diseases and viral infections in the country.
