Doctor in court for allegedly receiving stolen items
Doctor Dur Samy a private practitioner at the Ba Medical Center is facing charges of receiving 42 bottles of sodium chloride on two separate occasions from pharmacy attendant Nemani Baleinamana who is facing one count of theft.
The property belonged to the Lautoka Hospital Pharmacy. It is alleged that Baleinamana stole the items from Lautoka hospital.
The alleged incident took place on the 27th of last month.
Doctor Dur Samy who is represented by lawyer Chandar Singh pleaded not guilty to the charge while Baleinamana who was unrepresented told Magistrate Jude Nanayakkara that he wants to seek assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.
His plea has been deferred till the 28th of this month when the matter will be called for mention.
Both have been released on $1000 bail with a surety and have been ordered to report to FICAC's Lautoka office every Friday.
