We will do all we can to ensure that the public gets whatever help they need during the weekends with the core services we provide.

In an interview with Fijivillage, Labasa Hospital manager Doctor Samuela Korovou said that with the current doctor shortage around the country, they can only manage to operate core health services.

This is after complaints by members of the public that the standard of services was not satisfactory, as they had to wait for hours to be able to be seen by doctors.

Korovou added that currently only the emergency unit and the outpatient ward is open during the weekend.

Meanwhile, Doctor Korovou added that they are currently waiting for the new hospital block to be commissioned by the end of the year, as the Public Works Department workers are doing finishing touches to the building.
