The Fiji Police Force is urging the general public especially the youths to refrain from playing on our roads.

Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said while some drivers can be blamed for careless and dangerous driving, the pedestrians also need to follow road rules.

Mishra said they have spotted youths playing on main roads or just near the roads in the afternoons and this is dangerous for them.

He adds people should use playgrounds for fun and not the roads.

The road death toll for this year stands at 15 compared to 22 for the same period last year.
