Do not let them deceive you, read our constitution and see for yourself what the government has done over the past seven years.

Those are the words of FijiFirst Leader, Voreqe Bainimarama as he launched the party’s headquarters at Brown Street in Suva.

Bainimarama has rejected suggestions by political parties who are saying that itaukei land is under threat.

He said this is not the case and some parties are just trying to deceive the people to get votes.

Bainimarama said his intentions are clear and defined.

He also spoke about the equal land lease money distribution amongst the landowning units compared to the system in the past where the chiefs used to receive the majority of the lease rental income.

The FijiFirst Leader said his party stands for equality while some parties are silent on what they will do with the lease distribution system.

SODELPA has already said publicly that it will bring back the old system of lease distribution.

Bainimarama also raised concern about The Fiji Times.

He calls on the newspaper to declare publicly if it has a political bias.

Bainimarama said this is evident when you see some of the reports and comments of some of the Fiji Times journalists comments on social media.

FijiFirst will hold pocket meetings and rallies around the country soon.

More offices will also be opened up in different parts of the country.

SODELPA will comment later while we will also have the Fiji Labour Party leader’s comments later today.
