The National Fire Authority is calling on people not to burn rubbish or dry grass outside their homes or in their farms during the current dry and windy weather conditions.

The Corporate Affairs Officer Mileta Ting said that citizens have been setting fire to garbage or grass over the last few weekends mainly in villages and settlements around the country.

Ting said that over the last three to four weeks, NFA has responded to bush and rubbish fires in the Northern, Western and Central/Eastern divisions.

She said some of these fires were willfully set by persons while others resulted from spontaneous ignition.
