The world of satellite communication could just be the answer to lifting the standard of education in Fiji and solving the long standing problem of teacher shortages in rural and remote schools.

The Ministry of Education is piloting the distance education program in Queen Victoria School, Ratu Kadavulevu School and Namosi Secondary school which are now online, where a single teacher will be able to deliver classes to these schools.

While touring the online studio this morning, Education Minister Filipe Bole said the programme could help resolve issues of teacher shortage in schools around the country.
