The recipients of the Government's $30 Food Voucher Programme will now get a 10 percent discount on prescribed medicines.

This after the Social Welfare Ministry and the Fiji Pharmaceutical Society decided to provide 10 percent discount on the prescription medicine to ease the burden of the clients.

Permanent Secretary, Govind Sami said clients will have to provide a valid Identification card with original prescription at retail pharmacies and stresses that discounts will only be provided for prescribed medicines.

He also said the initiative will assist the Ministry=s effort in eradicating the hardships of the recipients in need of medical assistance in the country.

More than 20,000 people are currently receiving assistance under government’s food voucher program.
