The Digicel Fiji 7s indiscipline let them down again in the England 7s where they lost 29-28 to eventual winner Australia in the quarter final.

Leading 28-24 with just less than two minutes of play remaining halfback Semi Keli was shown the yellow card which resulted in Fiji playing with only six players and Australia scoring at the stroke of full time to beat Fiji 29-28.

The yellow card was Keli's second in the England 7s after he also receiving the marching orders in the 21 all draw against South Africa in the last pool game.

Fiji then went on to the plate semifinal where they defeat Wales 22-10 but again in the plate final they lost 26-24 to New Zealand when the hooter already sounded for full time.

New Zealand led 14-12 at half time with Fiji's tries coming from Semi Keli and Randell Kamea.

In the second half, Fiji scored two more tries to Apisai Nayabo and Aisake Katonibau with play maker Ilai Tinai converting Katonibau's try.

Leading 24-21 Fiji only had to kick the ball out to beat New Zealand but half back Semi Keli opted to kick the ball straight to the hands of the Kiwi who mounted another attack and beat Fiji 26-24.

In the final, Australia beat South Africa 19-14 in a closely contest match to win their first IRB 7s series since 2002.

Other results Samoa lost 24-12 to South Africa in the semifinal and Australia defeated Argentina 26-14.

Just looking at the overall IRB 7s series points standing, Samoa still leads with 140 points.

They are closely followed by New Zealand with 133 points while Fiji and Australia are tied on 3rd spot with 102 points.

Next weekend's is the Scotland 7s where Fiji is the defending champion and are in Pool D with USA, Wales and Scotland.
