The PSC Permanent Secretary said plans are in place to establish a Disciplinary Tribunal with the objective of hearing all disciplinary cases, regarding civil servants.

Parmesh Chand told participants at the second Disciplinary Prosecutors Workshop attended by senior government officials at the Nasova Police Barracks, that the Commission will no longer be hearing disciplinary cases and the Tribunal's proceedings will be similar to that of a Magistrate's Court.

Chand said certain weaknesses in the way the civil service conducts its prosecution business, and given the increasing number of disciplinary cases that are being brought before the Commission, there is now an urgent need to speed up things and have these cases handled in the correct way and with full legal compliance.

The workshop ends this afternoon.
