"Making Women with Disabilities Visible"
This is the title of nine months statistical data research to be carried out by the Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons, which was launched today by Australian High Commissioner James Batley with a substantial financial contribution in time for Christmas.
The Australian High Commission through AusAid and the British High Commission have given $22,000 each while the Women and Social Welfare Ministry gave $25,356.
Australian High Commissioner James Batley said they are happy to contribute to such a worthy cause.
FNCDP Executive Director Dr Sitiveni Yanuyanutawa said the project is aimed at collecting gender di-segregated information on issues affecting people with disabilities to help in future referencing and policy making.
The research will be conducted throughout Fiji and Rotuma.
