Diplomatic missions in Fiji and New Zealand are set to open next month following fruitful talks between the two countries.

According to Radio New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCullay confirmed that the New Zealand High Commission in Fiji is to re-open next month after meeting with Fiji Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola yesterday.

McCullay described the meeting as a fruitful discussion.

It is understood that the Fiji High Commission in Wellington is to re-open with Mere Tora taking up the post of first secretary and acting head of mission.

Ratu Inoke Kubuabola had another round of talks with New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCulley yesterday.

McCulley is in the country this weekend to hold further dialogue following talks with Ratu Inoke and Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith in Canberra earlier this month.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama had earlier confirmed to Fijivillage that one of the first issues that will be discussed during the talks will be the lifting of the travel sanctions, this is to ensure that well qualified and professional people can take up positions to help Fiji move forward.
