The New Zealand High Commission said it continues to engage through diplomatic channels in Suva, in concert with other members of the Forum on the Joint Working Group, the Elections Donor Coordination Committee and other Forum bodies, with Fiji officials on progressing the restoration of a constitutional government in Fiji.

These are the views of the High Commission when asked by Fijivillage on how the Commission is involved with diplomatic channels in Fiji.

The New Zealand High Commission said it continues to seek ways to improve the lives of the people of Fiji through its ODA programme, in the funding of a range of poverty alleviation programmes.

The Commission said it looks forward to a time when the relationship will be on a better footing, progress by the interim government to progress election preparations by the March 2009 agreed deadline, as well as to pursue an inclusive and independent political dialogue with all relevant stakeholders, would be useful in this regard.
