Members of the diplomatic corp in Fiji are seeking clarifications from the interim government on their diplomatic privileges and the status of their missions in the country following the expulsion of the Acting New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji Caroline McDonald.
Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ratu Isoa Gavidi told Fijivillage News that they are expected to brief the diplomatic corp to stress that they have nothing to worry about as their privileges and immunities remain.
Ratu Isoa also stresses that inspite of McDonalds expulsion, diplomatic ties with the New Zealand government remain intact and they are hoping for further dialogue in the new year.
He said both the New Zealand High Commission in Fiji and the Fiji mission in New Zealand remain operational at this stage.
