The new Digicel Mobile Money service shows there is continued confidence for doing business in Fiji.
Reserve Bank Governor Sada Reddy made the comments at the launch of Digicel's new Mobile Money service which offers the people of Fiji a range of mobile financial capabilities including the ability to transfer money to friends and family nationwide.
Reddy said the Reserve Bank supports rural outreach and is delighted that another mobile company has jumped on board to see financial services made available nationwide.
Digicel CEO Matt Davey said there are also plans to expand the Mobile Money service for the payment of bills.
The Digicel Mobile Money will see Digicel phones become electronic wallets offering customers a convenient and secure way to transfer money to any mobile phone in Fiji.
Currently Digicel has Mobile Money agents at selected Post Fiji outlets, Digicel stores nationwide and Westpac with the number of outlets set to increase to 100 in the coming weeks.
