The e-ticketing machines brought in by Digicel Fiji are now on trial in some of the buses.

Digicel’s Commercial Director, Andrew Skelton said the trials have started in all the Tebara Buses and they are expected to do the same with some other bus operators soon.

Skelton said it is a tap on tap off system.

Skelton said details on how much the e-ticketing cards will cost and other issues will be addressed later.

Land Transport Authority Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva said competition is healthy and they welcome the trial of the Digicel e-ticketing system.

He said any system that comes in has to go through the minimum standard requirement before they are accredited.

Tuinaceva said LTA is still awaiting the gazetting of the minimum standard requirements.
