Excavation works have started near the Parliament complex at Vuya Road to build the Ministry of Defence War Memorial.

Acting Prime Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau has confirmed that the site has been chosen by government to remember the fallen heroes and the war veterans who fought for the country.

Ratu Epeli said the works carried out at the site will be done on a stage by stage basis and is expected to be complete in the next three to four years.

He said he is not aware of the cost of building the Defence War Memorial.
