Police have this afternoon confirmed the digger that fell from a 10 wheeler truck smashing into a company vehicle in Lomaloma, Savusavu earlier today was not properly secured.

A man in his early 20's died instantly when the digger fell on the car he was driving. Three other passengers from the vehicle have been admitted at the Labasa hospital with one confirmed as being serious.

Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirms that a team of Police Officers are now at the scene and they expect to receive a detailed report soon.

A man is dead after the vehicle he was travelling in was smashed by a digger in Lomaloma in Savusavu two hours ago.

Three people who were in the car have been rushed to Labasa Hospital and one is in a serious condition.

Details are sketchy at this stage however it is believed the digger fell from a moving 10 wheeler truck and smashed the car which was behind the truck.
