Argentina soccer player Angel Di Maria has been ruled out of Wednesday’s World Cup semifinal against the Netherlands.
This is a big setback for Argentina but striker Sergio Aguero has been declared fit to play.
Di Maria came off injured in the 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Belgium.
The Real Madrid player was assessed yesterday and it was confirmed he has a thigh strain and will not face the Dutch.
Di Maria, who scored a dramatic extra time winner against Switzerland in the last 16, could be fit for the final next Monday should Argentina get there.
Manchester City striker Aguero has returned to training and declared himself fit for selection.
Argentina will play Netherlands at 8am this Thursday in the second semifinal.
Brazil will take on Germany in the first semifinal at 8am on Wednesday.
