The Suva High Court will make a decision on the 11th of August, whether to grant a permanent stay on the case against businessman, Dhansukh Lal Bhika which he is charged with nine counts of official corruption and one count of conspiracy to obtaining money by false pretence.

Bhika's Queen Counsel lawyer, Peter Maiden told Justice Nazhat Shameem this afternoon that prosecution has not given them any evidence of any documents that proved any corruption was carried out.

However, prosecution lawyers argued that they had evidence and are still working on it, which was the basis of them laying the charges in the first place.

A decision to grant a permanent stay on the matter will be decided on the 11th of August.

Dhunsukh Lal Bhika along with Gulabdass Bhika, Manoj Bhika, Jitendra Pratap and Sakiasi Sorovakatini are each charged with conspiracy to obtaining over $3.5 million by false pretence.
